C172 NG ANALOG

The classic six-pack Cessna 172 for X-Plane 12 - as analog as it gets.

Version 1.1.0 · X-Plane 12 · Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon), Linux

About

Fly the most successful aircraft in history the way generations of pilots learned it: steam gauges, VOR needles, and a Lycoming you manage by ear. Built by Airfoillabs from real aircraft data, real flight recordings, and recording sessions in the actual airplane - every one of its 175 simulated components has its own logic, wear, and failure modes, and they interact with each other, just like in the real aircraft.

Features

3D Model

Rebuilt from the ground up from the real aircraft with PBR texturing and HDR lighting. Fully modeled Lycoming engine, detailed pilots and passengers, interior animations, zero-G floating objects, rain, fogging, icing, and a breakable windshield. 48 liveries included.

Customizable Analog Gauges

Highly detailed, customizable analog gauges - the six-pack, engine instruments, and radio stack as flown in real-world trainers everywhere. Garmin GNS 430/530 with SBAS, KAP140 autopilot with realistic alerter logic, Davtron chronometer, and dimmable panel lighting.

Reality XP Integration

Reality XP GNS 530/430 implementation and GTN 750 compatibility for hardware-grade GPS realism - modern navigation in a classic analog cockpit.

FMOD Sound

320+ sounds recorded from the real aircraft. Layered engine samples from real recording sessions, audible failure cues, and weather effects inside and outside the cabin. Internal camera G-force effects and enhanced external cameras, out of the box.

Flight Model

Developed from actual flight recordings, correlated against POH performance tables, and refined with practicing pilots and flight instructors. Realistic stall and spin, soft-field takeoff, crosswind ground handling, aerodynamic effects of installed options, and structural damage simulation.

Custom Electrical System

Fully custom, plugin-based simulation built from the real C172 electrical schematic: every circuit breaker, bus, and fuse with correct voltages and amperages, battery behavior, short circuits, and component failures. A live 2D schematic panel shows the system state in real time.

Engine Simulation

The Lycoming IO-360-L2A simulated per cylinder: individual temperatures, wear, and failures, custom EGT per cylinder, oil temperature and pressure, two magnetos and eight individual spark plugs - including plug fouling. Air intake, fuel pump, exhaust, and more fail realistically too.

175 Failable Components

Custom failure management with wear that evolves over time and failures that cascade realistically. Trigger failures at a set altitude, save component states, and build shareable scenarios - 30 included. The C172 Knowledge Base explains every failable component, clickable directly on the 3D model.

Walk-Around Inspection

Walk mode with terrain and aircraft collisions - walk, run, crouch, climb on the aircraft to refuel. Manual towing, exterior flight control checks, covers, tiedowns, chocks, fuel sampling, manual refueling, oil refilling, engine heater, and GPU operation.

Automated Checklists

Automated checklist system with manual, semi-automatic, and automatic flow, checklist hints, and optional camera focus on instruments. Short-field takeoff and landing calculators, plus cruise performance tools.

User Interface

Floating menu UI designed for ergonomics and speed. Instant aircraft states - Cold & Dark, Before Start, Before Taxi, Before Takeoff. Detailed weight & balance, load/save situations, toe brakes smoothing, and cockpit lighting controllable from settings.

Aircraft Options

Wheel fairings, disc wheel covers, or bush wheels. Vortex generators and flap gap seals. Cockpit AoA indicator, tablet with AviTab integration, and headphone logic with noise canceling.

ANALOG or DIGITAL?

Same airframe, same 175-component systems depth, same flight model - two different panels. The C172 NG ANALOG flies with classic analog gauges, GNS 430/530, and the KAP140 autopilot. The C172 NG DIGITAL flies with the full G1000 glass cockpit. Choose the era you want to fly - or both.

Requirements

X-Plane 12 (64-bit, not compatible with X-Plane 11) · Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), or Linux
